Passion for Aviation

Love of Aviation

My love for history, especially military history was the reason behind my love of airplanes. Reading  about female aviators like Amelia Earhart and the ferrying ladies during the war time, were my sources of inspiration. I always dreamed of flying, but again I didn't come from money, so I knew I would have to work hard to make my dreams come true. So when I had an opportunity to serve my country during the Afghanistan War, I knew I wanted to be a part of Aviation history.  I found a signaler (communications)position available with   a Tactical Helicopter Unit.  In fact this would be the first time since the Korean War that a Canadian Forces Air Unit would see combat. Although I was not a pilot, being part of that historic unit was a highlight for me as I achieved a childhood dream.

Born to Fly

As  a young child growing up I dreamed of Flying. I've been very fortunate to fulfill a lot of these childhood dreams and still working on fulfilling many others. I got to take the controls of a C130 Hercules on a flight back from overseas, I've flown in Globe master, Chinook, Griffon helicopters. I hope to fly in many more including a Lancaster, Spitfire and Mustang one day ! Check out some photos of war birds I have flown in.

Flying in War Birds

Having a chance to be part of History, is an adventure of a lifetime. But being able to bring history back to life with my own hands, that is a gift!

Born to Build!

Although my service days in the military are long over, my passion for aviation continues but in a different way. I am current helping to restore a WWII Lancaster Bomber at the BC Aviation Museum in Sidney, BC something which brings incredible joy and satisfaction. When I step inside the museum, its like being a kid in a candy shop, as history is at my fingertips. It truly feels like I am in a dream, having such an amazing opportunity to work with amazing group of volunteers and ensuring our history is preserved. It truly is a privilege. I am also trying to find time to work on attaining my private pilot license. Check out restoration photos and information on Lancaster Bomber
