Carla’s passion for restoring classic cars came about in an unexpected way. Her early interests into history, fuelled by a strong desire to learn has guided her passion towards everything classic. From studying the sounds of the 50s, to collecting antiques and restoring classic cars and famous World War II airplanes.
I was born in Quintero, Chile, and raised in Victoria, BC, Canada. As part of an immigrant family with limited resources, I learned early on the value of hard work, resilience, and strong core values. Growing up, I witnessed the incredible impact that kindness and community support can have on a person’s life. I was fortunate to be surrounded by generous individuals who helped my family and me feel at home. I fell in love with Canada—and even begged my mom to let us stay.
At the age of 17, I made the life-changing decision to join the Canadian Army, fueled by a strong sense of duty and a desire to make a positive impact in the world. That decision set me on a path that would take me to places I had only dreamed of, expose me to a wide range of cultures and experiences, and shape the person I am today. Through my service, I developed discipline, resilience, and leadership skills that have carried through every chapter of my life.
The military also provided a unique platform for me to represent Canada on the international stage — not just in uniform, but in sport. I had the privilege of competing in numerous high-level athletic events across a range of disciplines including soccer, golf, long-distance running, and hockey. These experiences not only deepened my commitment to teamwork and perseverance, but also reinforced the value of physical and mental fitness in all areas of life.
My academic background began in the world of technology. I pursued a wide array of qualifications in computing, earning certificates, diplomas, and degrees in subjects such as web design, computer programming, server administration, and systems analysis. With a passion for understanding how things work — both in machines and in people — I eventually expanded my focus to the workings on the mind, earning a degree in Brain Science. This interdisciplinary background has given me a unique perspective, blending technical problem-solving with a deep curiosity about human behavior and cognition. Additionally, In 2021, I attended automotive school at Camosun College, obtaining my level 1 automotive technician level.
Today, I continue to draw from both my military and academic backgrounds in everything I do — combining structure with creativity, logic with empathy, and service with purpose.
My passion for restoring classic cars didn’t begin as a typical love for automobiles — it was born from an unexpected blend of curiosity and history. Growing up with a deep fascination for the past, I was always drawn to the stories that history tells — whether through the music of the 1950s, the elegance of antiques, or the mechanical marvels of vintage vehicles. This insatiable curiosity soon evolved into a specific interest in restoring classic cars, as well as iconic World War II airplanes, which embody the craftsmanship and innovation of a bygone era.
My journey into the world of restoration has been fuelled by more than just a love of vintage aesthetics; it’s rooted in the belief of the importance that preserving the stories and memories these relics hold.
